October 1998

Now that September has rolled around, most of us are probably settled into our first major PCS by now. Schools have started up (be it NPS, SWOS, flight school, or grad school), and now we are starting to earn our pay (or maybe not: so far I've made copies, checked light bulbs, and moved desks around). We are now paying our loans back, so hopefully you got settled into your living arrangements before your paycheck started to get cut. I never realized how much I didn't own until I left USNA. I was actually back at Mother B in August, unexpectedly, and I saw a scary sight: one of the mids I trained when I was a squad leader was now training the plebes. Personally it's hard to fathom all that time gone by, but I imagine I'll see "scarier" things in the years to come. I wish I had more to tell you, but right now all I know is that about 20 of our classmates are here in Charleston right now (3 August). Email me some good info. Who is doing what, and where? You can send in pictures too. Later on we can use this column as a sort of yearbook for our class; it can document what's happened over the years. Don't be shy. Fair Winds, DSF
