March 2001

Hello once again great '98! I hope 2001 is still treating everyone well. For those of us who made resolutions, great job is you're still doing it! Let's get right to the fleet and find out what is going on.

Sue (Olivier) is now Sue Balcirak. Dean Balcirak and Sue got married 30 September on Block Island, RI. As you see in the picture, no uniforms, but they sure are looking sharp. Nice car too. Congratulations you guys.

The newlyweds

Believe it or not, that is the only new info I have for this article. Maybe everyone was just busy with the holidays. (Right now it's 10 January.) In a few months I'm going to start planning our fifth year reunion. Since I'll be in Hawaii, it'd be nice to get some help from someone in the Annapolis-D.C. area to help out with some details. If you or anyone you know will be in that area in that time frame, please let me know. If you have not signed into our registry on www.usna98.org, please do. That registry can become an extremely useful tool to locate people. You'd be surprised how many emails I get from strangers wondering if I know where "so and so" is.

There seems to be a lot of women out there looking for that long lost Midshipman they met two or three years ago. Rarely can I give them a good answer. At least nobody has asked me if I know where "Chester Nimitz" is stationed (Old Mother-B joke). I'm not sure how I'd answer that.

Alright '98, keep it safe and have fun out there. For those of you who are getting out at five years, you're half way there! For the lifers, just 17.5 more years! Fair winds...DSF
