September 2002
Greetings Great '98! Hopefully everyone is doing well. Time is flying
by once again. I almost missed submitting this article because I was
busy studying for my prospective nuclear engineer officer exam. I'm
between my written and my oral exam right now. All the nukes know what
I'm talking about. I have just one letter for you this month, from my
old roomie and fellow regular Commander, Adam Nazario:
I have been in Richmond for about eight months now (and it beats
being stationed at Camp Lejeune). Since getting to Richmond I have
made several trips to Annapolis, Virginia Beach, and when forced
to, Quantico. While I was up in Quantico for a legal course (no I
was not being court martialed, Licari) I ran into Matt
Bazarian. He is currently serving as the H&S Bn S-3A. He was
doing well and enjoying married life now that he has escaped Camp
Lejeune and is no longer in a constant state of deployment. I heard
through the TBS rumor-mill that Bob Geiger is stationed there
as well, but I was unable to track him down. I speak with Andrew
Ruff on occasion and recently got an email from him telling me
of his exploits as a marathon runner and telling me about the joys
of marriage. He and his wife, Lisa, were married back in January
and he is loving married life. He also informed me that John
Phillips is heading to RS Detroit to recruit the future of the
Marine Corps. Gook luck, John. I know you'll love recruiting
duty...ha ha ha.
For my fellow 6th Company Plebe Year Classmates, Chris Bronzi
'96
and Graig Abele '96 are both stationed at TBS as instructors at IOC
once again inflicting pain on newly commissioned lieutenants. I talk
with Tony Licari from time to time and the last I heard he was
enjoying life (if that is possible at a recruiting station) in New
Jersey. I recently went on a cruise to the Bahamas with Nancy
Olson '95 and Meghan Mariman '94. We had a blast for a week in the
Carribean. Not much else going on. I am loving life in Richmond and
I have a great apartment downtown with an extra bedroom, so if
anyone is passing through, look me up or send an email. Hope that
all is well with everyone both here in the states and overseas.
Sounds like you are doing great Adam, thanks for the letter. And that's all
folks. Keep sending me letters so these articles have some meat to them.
Take care out there and have fun. Catch you next month. Fair winds -DSF
